A place to answer things you may be wondering about…
How did you land your first publishing deal?
I believe fate played a huge role in this. After a failed publishing deal back in 2023 (with a completely different project, Partial Stars), I spent several years focused solely on WRITING. However, when I rediscovered Lost Island Press, something clicked.
Back in 2020, I entered their first publishing contest when I was only 14 years old. OBVIOUSLY that book wasn’t selected (thank goodness); however, Mel and her company left a lasting impact on me.
Nearly six years later, I submitted to their third contest in 2025 with my young adult dystopian romance novel BELOW. Now, I can call myself the 2025 publishing contest winner. Crazy how things work out, isn’t it?
What genres do you write?
Currently, BELOW, ABOVE, and BEYOND are my focus (a young adult dystopian romance trilogy. In the past, I’ve written books anywhere from mystery/thriller to high fantasy, as well as standard romance. Many more fantasy books are in my future for sure!
What other projects do you have in the works?
Visit the BOOKS section for more! There are separate pages for my WIPs and previous works 🙂
How did you get into writing?
Writing got into me. I remember vividly pretending to be sick one day so I could stay home from school and work on one of my stories (this had to be in kindergarten or grade one at most). I also struggled to find my “thing” growing up and ended up writing a story in grade 6 about a girl trying to find her passion. Little did I know, my own passion was there all along!
What books inspired you to start writing?
My dad read me the first few books of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events when I was 5 years old, which I later finished reading on my own. It was the most transformative literary experience of my childhood for sure! Apart from that, Harry Potter and The Unwanteds series were some of my favourites (and super inspirational).
